Campervan Hire: Best For Holiday Vacation

Image
We checked out of the hostel and walked down to catch the airbus back to the airport. We then rang our campervan company who came and picked us up from the airport. We were very early so they advised us to go and do some shopping and come back at 12 - there was a countdown supermarket a short walk away so we went and bought lots of good for our travels ahead. When we got back to the office they told us they were putting a tyre on the vehicle. We completed the paper work and then they went through how everything worked. We have two double beds, a fridge, a gas cooker and even a small chemical toilet oh and a DVD player with flat screen tv!! We went into a warehouse store and bought a couple of chairs as they were supposed to be in the van (we can get our money back) we also bought some cheap DVDs and a few other bits and pieces. We set off in the campervan with the destination of waitomo caves. We stopped in the way by a mountain for the toilet and some lunch and arrived at our

Our return to Auckland from our Northlands / Bay of Islands trip, Gem had a little injury which kind of slowed us down for a few days but this was a kind of blessing as we could focus on what we wanted to do when we got our campervan in a few days time. The best of course (as with any Aquarium) was the Shark tunnel, we went round a f

We have now decided that if it takes say 3 hours to drive somewhere, allow 6 hours. With all of our stopping for photo ops, groceries, lunch, souvenirs….I am surprised it actually doesn't take longer. Our catch phrase has become: ""We don’t need to be anywhere, do we?"" or “Are we in a hurry?” [Thanks to that gas station lady we now have a catch phrase!] Kaiteriteri is a beautiful small ocean beach town. I emailed ahead to request a site close to the beach and we were extremely lucky to get a “front row” site. The view from the back of our campervan is superb. Our neighbours are mere feet away on each side but with that view out the back, who cares. Our campervan is a hatchback style so we just open up the back to have our own private alfresco experience. Our first night (after our swim) we gazed out at the beach while drinking our Highfield wine that we picked up direct from the winery and while slurping our green tipped mussels that we picked up direct from NZ
